Jesus will sit on the throne of His father David

editor - 15 December 2011

The Angel Gabriel made two promises to Mary. First – she would be the mother of a Holy Child. Second – this child would sit on the throne of His father David. The first promise has been fulfilled. The second remains to be fulfilled. It will be fulfilled soon, because the God of Israel by His only-begotten Son Jesus has started to bring His First-born son Israel back to the Promised Land of Israel. The people of Israel, the land of Israel, the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem are being prepared for the Coming of the Lord.

“Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”  (Luke 1:26-33 NKJV)

Two promises were given by the angel Gabriel:

–        First: She would be the mother of a holy child: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” He was to be the perfect Lamb of God to be slain for the sins of the world. Paul says in Titus 2:11-14 “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the Blessed Hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”

–        Secondly: This child would sit on the throne of His father David. That throne once stood in Jerusalem. He would reign over the house of Jacob, over the 12 tribes of Israel, the 10 tribes ‘Israel’ + the 2 tribes ‘Judah’ = the whole house of Jacob. And of His Kingdom there would be no end. “…the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end…”

The first promise was fulfilled, 2000 years ago.

The second promise will be fulfilled soon. Very soon, because the God of Israel by His only-begotten Son Jesus has started to bring His First-born son Israel back to the Promised Land of Israel. The people of Israel, the land of Israel, the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem are being prepared for the Coming of the Lord. He has started to move the history of this world forward towards His goals: the coming of the Kingdom and the coming of the King of the Kingdom. We are witnesses of this process that takes place before our very eyes, already for over 100 years. We see age-old, Biblical prophecies being fulfilled before our very eyes. We might even be the generation that will see the Coming of the Lord, the Blessed Hope!

The powers of darkness see these things happen as well. And they understand that when His Kingdom will come, they are finished (compare Matthew 8:28-29). And so they develop plans to obstruct God’s plan of salvation for mankind and planet earth. Let’s look through their eyes to what is happening today in the political developments in the Middle East and in the whole world! Some plans by the powers of darkness:

Plan A – Destroy Jacob! Kill them all! Wipe them of the face of the earth! Then there is no ‘Jacob’ over which He can be King! But they will not succeed! Look at Jeremiah 31:35-36.

Plan B – Cut the Promised Land in pieces! Cut off Gaza, the West-Bank, the Golan (Bashan) and cut Jerusalem in two. Then make these pieces of land into a new Arab, Muslim State – and call it Palestine. With East-Jerusalem as its capital – and by the way: then we also have the Mount of Olives so Jesus cannot come back in Glory for a long time! Let us as Christians work and pray that they will not succeed!

Plan C – Throw as much sand into the eyes of the whole of Christianity so that the Church will be ‘blind and deaf’ and has no idea what Israel is all about. Leave them in their age-old philosophies and (replacement) theologies, so that they have no idea what is happening right before their very eyes. In order that the Church will not start praying and will not be like the watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem, Isaiah 62:6-7.

But God is in control. Jesus is coming soon. The Kingdom is coming! All the promises that the God of Israel made to Israel He will fulfill for Israel. In the same way as all the promises He made to His Church, He will fulfill for His Church.
