Prayer Calendar April-May 2024 – Now Available
“I will bring my people Israel back from exile. They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,’ says the LORD your God.” (Amos 9:14-15)
The return of God’s people to Israel fulfills an age-old promise. It is a miracle that after centuries of exile the people of Israel are returning to the land. Villages have grown into cities and once again children play in the squares of Jerusalem. Vineyards and olive groves are being planted in the desert. The date palms drip with honey, the land is fertile again. The visible fulfillment of these prophesies is a sign of hope in a time of darkness.
Despite war, destruction and grief, God remains faithful to His promises and is moving forward with His plan for Israel. This also means that even when the nations pronounce judgement over Israel, even when government leaders want to divide the land and determine the future of the land, God’s covenant with His people and His promises stand unshaken. Our role is to support and comfort Israel. (Isaiah 40:1-2)
In the next two months, let us pray for Israel to be blessed and for healing for the wounds caused by the war. Let’s follow Israel’s example on the Sabbath by only thanking God. In doing this we grow in awareness that God will provide and that we can trust in Him.
Shalom,
