The Bible Speaks: Isaiah 4:5-6

Cathy Coldicutt - 1 July 2024

Then the Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over everything the glory will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.”

Isaiah 4:5-6

Isaiah’s words foresee a time of judgment and purification, but thankfully that is not the last that is said. This prophecy also speaks of the consolation of Jerusalem. Zion will shine again as an ornament of the Lord. Meetings will be held all over the city to serve God, and just like once at the exodus from Egypt, God will protect His people. Isaiah even speaks of a chupa, a canopy, that will be stretched over the holy city, as at the festive closing of a wedding. These words have often been thought of after Iran’s missile attack on Israel. And quite rightly so.
