‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace
In their desperate search for peace, and their desire to please the world, Israel’s leaders have in recent decades allowed themselves to be deceived.
This month marks the 30th anniversary of the Oslo peace process between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), which was formally ushered in with great fanfare on the White House lawn on Sept. 13, 1993.
The Oslo process was predicated on the assumption that the PLO had turned the corner and renounced the terrorism that had defined it.
Recently published minutes of Israeli cabinet meetings in 1993 show that this assumption was exposed as entirely false almost immediately after the ceremony.
Israel Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, his ministers, the Israel Defense Forces, intelligence agencies and the media refused to acknowledge the fraud that was Oslo.
As one commentartor has expressed it: “Still today, Israel operates in a strategic environment dictated by a false peace process with the unrepentant and active terror group.”
Jewish New Year
This week, the Jewish new year will start: Rosh HaShanah (רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה, Rōʾš hašŠānā, literally “head of the year”). The biblical name for this holiday is Yom Teruah (יוֹם תְּרוּעָה, Yōm Tərūʿā, lit. “day of shouting/blasting”).
It is the first of the Jewish High Holidays (יָמִים נוֹרָאִים, Yāmīm Nōrāʾīm, “Days of Awe”), as specified by Leviticus 23:23–25.
Rosh Hashanah begins a ten-day period of penitence culminating in Yom Kippur.
This is a good time for us as Gentile Christians to identify with Israel’s dilemma’s and challenges, go deeper in our connection with the Jewish people, and intercede on their behalf.
Let us pray more ernestly that the Lord will send His Messiah, to reign as King over Israel and the nations, with His bride.
Then, and only then, will true peace come for Israel and the Palestinians.

The Oslo deception: New evidence
Itamar Markus writes at JNS: “New testimony by a Palestinian Authority MP once again proves that to Yasser Arafat, the “two-state solution” was merely the first stage in a plan to eliminate Israel.”

Who Really failed us?
Caroline Glick talks with one of the first people to expose the situation. Yigal Carmon, founder and president of the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), brought translations of Yasser Arafat’s speeches calling for jihad to the attention of leading Israeli media figures and politicians in real-time, only to be demeaned as a biased political lobbyist for having the temerity to tell the truth. Carmon is a former senior intelligence officer and adviser to Israeli prime ministers Yitzhak Shamir and Rabin. They discuss the reasons for the political, intelligence and media failures in responding competently to Arafat’s bad faith, as well as the disastrous consequences of Israel’s 30-year commitment to a policy based on a flawed, false premise. They also discuss a similar intelligence failure that occurred before the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, on the World Trade Center and Pentagon—circumstances that continue today by American politicians and a media that misidentifies, and in some cases ignores, the real threats and enemies.

The End of the Rule of Law
In this week’s Caroline Glick show “In Focus,” she discusses the nature of the “Era of Fraud.” In light of the 30th anniversary of Oslo being marked on Sept. 13, the process was based on the fraudulent claim that the PLO had given up terror. Once the realization was apparent, rather than abandon the Oslo Accords, Israel embraced them and has lived with a lie at the center of its national strategy ever since. Glick talks about how that happened, as well as about the nature of jihad and the Jewish state, and how Western civilization dominates such discourse and blinds leaders to the realities of global terrorism—most notably, witnessed in full force on Sept. 11, 2001.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK:
Jeremiah 6:9-15
This is what the Lord Almighty says:
“Let them glean the remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine;
pass your hand over the branches again, like one gathering grapes.”
10 To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me?
Their ears are closed so they cannot hear.
The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.
11 But I am full of the wrath of the Lord, and I cannot hold it in.
“Pour it out on the children in the street and on the young men gathered together;
both husband and wife will be caught in it, and the old, those weighed down with years.
12 Their houses will be turned over to others, together with their fields and their wives, when I stretch out my hand against those who live in the land,”
declares the Lord.
13 “From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain;
prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit.
14 They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious.
‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.
15 Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct? No, they have no shame at all they do not even know how to blush.
So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them,”
says the Lord.
