Bring the Jews Home (Aliyah) – Ethiopia
“Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you, your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip.” Isaiah 60:4
In Ethiopia, thousands of Jews are waiting until they are allowed to return to Jerusalem. In their own country, these Jews are called the Falashas. In the last century, researchers discovered that the Falashas are Jews who have lived isolated for thousands of years. The Beta Israel, descendants of the tribe of Dan. For thousands of years, they maintained Jewish laws and customs, unaware that there were other Jews worldwide. They thought they were the only ones.
The Falashas are outsiders in Ethiopia, outcasts. A tribe with no land of their own. A people without their own king. A faith without a city of their own. But with a great longing that they continued to cherish for centuries: to one day be allowed to return to the land of their ancestry, the promised land of Israel, to return to the holy city of Jerusalem.
